4.7/5Overall Score
Pros
  • Reduces static and tangles with built-in mist – smoother, more comfortable brushing for pet and easier fur removal for owner
  • Self-cleaning bristles retract at a button press, making fur disposal quick and neat
  • 3-in-1 functionality: detangles fur, de-sheds loose hair, and gives a light coat conditioning/cleaning in one step
  • USB rechargeable & cordless – convenient and portable, no cords to get in the way; ~80 minutes use per charge
  • Pet-approved design: soft bristle tips and gentle vibration/mist provide a massaging effect that many pets enjoy, allowing longer grooming sessions
Cons
  • Water tank needs frequent refills – 20 ml can empty in one thorough session; minor inconvenience to refill if doing very long grooming sessions
  • Not meant for heavy mats – severe matting still needs separate tools or clipping (mist helps minor tangles but it’s not a dematter per se)
  • As an electronic device, can’t submerge – must be careful during cleaning to not soak it (though normal use around water is fine)
  • Long-term durability of mist function unknown – nozzle could calcify or clog if not occasionally cleaned, especially with anything but distilled water
  • No indicator of battery level on some models – it just stops when out of power, so one might keep an eye on charge if planning a big grooming (small con given long battery life)

This 3-in-1 Pet Grooming Brush is a viral new electronic pet brush that combines detangling, deshedding, and a gentle misting function to make grooming easier and more comfortable for pets. Branded by some retailers as the “Pawlish Pet Grooming Brush,” it gained popularity in 2025 thanks to social media demos of its unique steam/mist feature. Essentially, it’s a rechargeable slicker brush with an integrated sprayer that emits a fine mist of water (or diluted conditioner) while you brush, which helps reduce static, loosen shedding fur, and clean the coat.

Design & Build: The brush looks similar to a regular slicker brush (the kind with lots of fine metal bristles), but a bit bulkier in the handle due to the built-in water reservoir and battery. The bristles have soft, protected tips so they won’t scratch the skin. It’s clear the design considered pet comfort: the bristles retract slightly at the push of a button for self-cleaning – meaning when you’re done brushing, you press a button and the brush lifts the hair out from the bristles in one sheet for easy removal. This is a fantastic time-saver because anyone who’s used a slicker knows how tedious plucking hair out can be. The handle is ergonomic and even rotates 360° so you can lock it at an angle that’s comfortable for different grooming positions (for example, rotating to better brush the belly or back). It charges via USB and runs about 70–80 minutes per charge, more than enough for multiple grooming sessions since a typical session might be 10-15 minutes.

Steam & Mist Function: The marquee feature is the spray mist. There’s a tiny 20 ml water tank in the handle that, at the press of a button, releases a fine mist through a nozzle among the bristles. This isn’t hot steam like a human clothing steamer (so don’t worry about heat) – it’s more of a room-temperature mist. Its purpose is twofold: anti-static and moisturizing. Dry fur often leads to static shocks and flyaway hair; a light mist keeps the fur slightly damp to completely eliminate static cling, making brushing more effective and comfortable. It also helps the bristles glide through tangles easier, and can carry a light scent or conditioner if you add a bit to the water (some use a pet coat spray diluted in the water). In testing on a long-haired cat and a golden retriever dog, the mist definitely made a difference – less yelping from static pops, and it pulled out loose undercoat more smoothly. An unexpected plus: the massage element. The brush produces a soft haptic vibration when spraying (almost like an electric toothbrush hum), which actually gave a little massage effect that many pets find soothing. Our dog, who usually only tolerates short brushing, allowed a longer session with this brush, possibly because the vibration/mist made it feel more like a massage than just pulling.

Grooming Performance: As a deshedding tool, it works comparably to a standard slicker or undercoat rake, with the added benefit that the loose fur clumps a bit from the moisture, making it easier to gather and less likely to float around the room. In one pass on our shedding cat, the brush removed a ton of hair that might normally end up on furniture – and cleaning the brush was as easy as clicking the self-clean button to dump the fur. The detangling ability is moderate – serious mats still need a comb or scissors, but minor tangles brush out more easily with mist (and no static means the fur doesn’t re-tangle immediately). It’s pitched as 3-in-1 because it detangles, de-sheds, and “refreshes” the coat by removing dust with the damp brush and reducing odor. After brushing, our dog’s coat felt a bit softer and less dusty; it’s not a bath replacement, but it does freshen the fur.

Usability & Pet Reaction: The brush is USB rechargeable (no cord during use, which is great for maneuverability). It’s lightweight considering the tech inside. One button controls the mist (you can spray on demand or set it to intermittent mode where it sprays every few seconds as you brush). Another button retracts bristles for cleaning. The device runs quietly – just a low buzz when spraying; both test pets were fine with it, even the noise-sensitive cat. Most pets might be a bit curious about the mist at first (our dog tried to lick it), but once they realize it’s just water and feels nice, they accept it. Grooming time was effectively cut down because you can brush longer (pet tolerates it) and remove more fur in one go. Also, fewer breaks needed to de-fur the brush thanks to self-clean.

Maintenance: You do have to refill the little water tank each session (20 ml isn’t a lot, but enough for ~5-10 minutes of misting). It’s easy to pop open and fill from the tap. After use, it’s wise to empty remaining water so it doesn’t sit and possibly grow bacteria – minor thing. The bristles are stainless steel and rust-resistant (the device is intended to get wet obviously). If using anything other than water (like a detangler spray), they advise to clean the nozzle occasionally to avoid clogging. But overall, maintenance is minimal – wipe fur off, charge it now and then. Durability seems decent; it’s not a premium £80/$100 product, but for the price, it’s well-built enough.
